With its proven performance-enhancing ability, compression plays an integral role in the fit and functionality of all of our apparel. By itself, the role of compression is considered in every garment to improve comfort and longevity while riding but perhaps most apparent is the amount and necessity of compression found in Velocio bibs, shorts, leggings, and tights.
First Impressions
We always recommend that you wash your new apparel before wearing it. The garment will relax and break in over the first few wearings and washes - not a profound amount - but enough to be noticeable and more comfortable. In part, this is due to the production process of fabrics and garments, where washing will tend to release, relax and soften fabrics and finishes.
All of our bibs are designed for optimal fit on the bike. When trying on or wearing your bibs for the first time, try them on the bike (or mimicking on the bike posture) to feel an ideal approximation of fit. Different parts of the bibs will fit and feel more comfortable in the riding position vs. standing upright. Also, all of our bib shorts will “break in” after a few rides and washes, conforming to the shape of the rider. The best bibs don’t feel perfect standing in front of a mirror - the design makes pedaling better.
Our original Women's bibs (Signature Fly) had a zipper, located at the lower back panel, that functioned with the user unzipping and then squatting to use. In our more recent versions, we've removed the need for the zipper, hence the "FlyFree", and reinforced the stitching as well as the fabric, resulting in a lighter weight and easier to use experience.
To make use of the FlyFree design:
- Place your fingers holding firmly to the lower rear portion of the bib straps.
- In one motion, squat down to bring your knees up to your chest, and gently pull the bib straps so that they stretch, allowing you to take a nature break.
- When finished, again in one motion, gently pull the bib straps back into place while standing upright.
